Maintenance Apprentice and forthcoming Youth Production Apprentice
Tri-County Technical College and soon to be Hamilton Career and Technology Center
Horton Inc. began their manufacturing operations in Oconee County, SC in March of 2020. In October of 2021, they registered their first apprenticeship program for a Maintenance Apprentice, partnering with Tri-County Technical College to provide the educational component. They are now planning to expand their apprenticeship to include a Youth Production Apprenticeship. This decision comes after a successful summer internship program, which identified some promising students from Oconee County’s K-12 vocational center, the Hamilton Career and Technology Center.
Horton’s proximity to both the Hamilton Career and Technology Center and the Oconee Tri-County Technical College campus (literally a walk across the street), make it easy to form these kinds of collaborations and apprenticeship partnerships.
